Because the weather is different from Indonesia, it’s essential to know information about the seasons in Turkey especially if we have plan to travel there.
Being aware of the weather conditions helps visitors pack suitable clothing and plan their itineraries accordingly.
When I went to Turkey, it was summer there.
However, it was early summer, just to add my two cents, the weather wasn’t much different from the daily weather in Indonesia.
It’s a different story when visiting Turkey during the winter season.
It can be challenging if we don’t adjust our clothing accordingly.
Each season in Turkey has its advantages and disadvantages.

As I mentioned earlier, there are 4 seasons in Turkey, and each season offers a different sensation.
Choosing the right clothes and equipment is crucial during your time in Turkey to ensure you won’t be too cold or too hot due to a wardrobe mistake.
One season in Turkey usually lasts about 3 months.

1. Winter
Winter is the first season I want to talk about. It’s not for any particular reason; it’s just that I really want to visit Turkey during the winter, but haven’t had the chance yet, hahaha…
Winter in Turkey: December, January, and February
This is the scenery during winter in Turkey, precisely in the town of Goreme, Cappadocia, which is quite famous.

Everything is covered in snow.
But don’t worry, supposedly, Hot Air Balloons still fly even in winter.
Hmm, but can you imagine how cold it is up there, hahaha…
But it’s fun, though. From the hot air balloon, you can see everything below covered in snow. Huhuhuuuu…. Hopefully, I can go there during the snowy season… Amen….
In certain areas like Cappadocia, the temperature can sometimes drop below 0°C, and the snow accumulation in Cappadocia is said to be very thick. Amazing, isn’t it?
Even though it will be very cold, it’s nice to visit Turkey during winter. There’s a possibility that the number of tourists will decrease, right? Because many people may choose other seasons to vacation in Turkey.
Now, since the number of tourists during winter in Turkey decreases, there’s a chance that expenses during the stay in Turkey might be cheaper.
Hmm, that could be true, right? When there are fewer tourists during the winter season, it’s common for businesses and tourism providers to offer promotions and discounts to attract visitors. This can include reduced prices for accommodations, tours, and various activities.
Anyway, if you’re really planning to visit Turkey in winter, don’t forget to bring all your warm clothes. The temperatures in certain regions, especially inland and mountainous areas, can drop significantly.
And of course, if you come to Turkey, you can play in the snowwww….
There are specific places in Turkey that are indeed favourites during the winter season. You can even go skiing.
Some even say that Turkey is more charming during the snowy season. Hmm, I guess this really depends on personal taste, just my two cents.
And oh yes, the level of cold in Turkey also varies; some places can be extremely cold, while others have a dry cold weather, depending on the region…
Winter temperatures in Turkey range from approximately -13°C to 24°C.
So, when the temperature is like this, it’s really enjoyable to go skiing in Turkey.
There is a famous Ski Resort in Turkey: Uludag Ski Resort one in the city of Bursa and the other one is in Cappadocia.
Some people say the ski resorts there are no less impressive than those in Switzerland. At least that’s what they say, because I haven’t been there yet, hiks…

2. Spring
The next season is spring. The weather is nice during spring, still cool but not too cold.
And during spring, many tulips bloom in Turkey.

It’s perfect to visit Turkey in spring, especially if you want to see the Tulip Festival.
During this time, most cities in Turkey are filled with colourful tulips of various shades. It’s really amazing!

Typically, the tulip bulbs are prepared before the arrival of spring, so when the time comes, they bloom vibrantly. The quantity is no joke; it can reach up to 30 million tulips in this festival.
Moreover, they are not just planted randomly but also arranged in various shapes, with well-chosen colour combinations.
There are shapes resembling river flows, animals, flags, or simply arranged in rows forming colour-coordinated groups.
The clear weather in Turkey, along with the comfortable air, is just perfect for taking photos amidst these tulips.
Spring temperatures in Turkey range from around 13°C to 20°C.
The spring season provides a comfortable temperature range for exploring Turkey.
As summer approaches, Turkey tends to become hotter.
During spring, the weather is still somewhat cool and refreshing.
Therefore, it’s advisable to plan your visit according to the seasons in Turkey.
If you want to see Tulips, you can come to the following places during spring season:
- Taman Emirgan, Istanbul
- Hagia Sophia
- Blue Mosque
- Mevlana Museum in Konya
Alternatively, you can usually see similar landscapes in some other cities, but the most magnificent is indeed in Istanbul.
3. Summer
Summer in Turkey is a delightful season for vacations.
Many European tourists choose to visit Turkey during the summer.

Most tourists aim for beach and sea destinations, especially those from Europe who are eager for sunbathing.
Turkey is indeed known for its many beautiful coastal areas.
The coastal stretch in Turkey is quite extensive, providing numerous spots for tourism.
Summer in Turkey: Alanya
The summer weather in Turkey is pleasant and just right, especially if you want to take a hot air balloon ride in Cappadocia. It’s perfect because the sky will be very clear.
The summer season in Turkey, with its warmth, brings joy to tourists.
Since summer is a favourite season for tourists in Turkey, prices usually rise during this period.
Additionally, these months often coincide with the school vacation season, so prices are likely to spike even more.
Summer temperatures in Turkey range from around 29°C to 35°C.
However, it’s important to be cautious because during the nighttime, in some areas, the nighttime temperatures can go down to around 16°C.
The following places are suitable to visit during the summer in Turkey:
- Istanbul (you can have tea at a cafe near Ortakoy Mosque or around Dolmabahce or in Eminonu)
- Izmir (if you want to take photos in Ephesus, the sky will be really beautiful)
- Pamukkale (choosing the time approaching sunset is a great idea)
- Antalya (many beautiful beaches for you to visit, and you can also go boating.)
- Karadeniz (you can have coffee or tea from the top of the hills)
- Fethiye (playing in the water here is so much fun, or you can go paragliding)
Well, it’s perfect to visit Turkey during the summer, but you should be prepared for the skyrocketing prices.
4. Autumn

The season in Turkey during autumn is a favourite for photographers and enthusiasts of museums and history.
The weather is supportive, plus the sight of golden falling leaves is truly beautiful.
During this autumn season, the prices are still reasonable.
The temperature during the autumn season in Turkey is around 14°C to 20°C.
If you enjoy hiking or mountain climbing, just come to Turkey during the fall.
There’s a national park in the Bolu region of Turkey called Yedigoller National Park.
It’s an incredibly cool and very natural place.
Many lush trees with golden orange leaves falling, plus there’s a lake too, da-da-daaaa cool and incredibly beautiful…
It’s like a painting!
And here, the town is somewhat old-fashioned, not included among the bustling big cities like Istanbul.
Finding tranquillity here is just right. Camping or simply strolling around is already enjoyable.
There are charming places to visit in Turkey during the fall:
- The Yedigöller National Park in Bolu
- Sille Subaşı, an ancient village in Konya
Those who love quiet and peaceful areas would be a perfect fit to visit here.

The weather in Turkey is quite varied, adapting to whichever season is currently ongoing.

At certain times, Turkey also experiences rain, like Indonesia.
Since Turkey is a four-season country, Turkish people are indeed known to be accustomed to various weather conditions and different temperatures.
Climate in Turkey
The climate in Turkey is influenced by various factors, one of which is its geographical location spanning two continents.
Turkey is located in the northeastern tip of the Mediterranean Sea.
Turkey is situated between the continent of Europe (Southeastern Europe) and the continent of Asia (Western Asia).
Turkey is geographically surrounded by several seas, including the northern, southern, and western seas.
Because there are both seas and mountains, there is a noticeable climate difference between the inland mountainous areas and the coastal regions.
Some areas experience high rainfall, while others become quite dry during the summer months.
So, indeed, June to August is truly fitting for a vacation.
However, the winter months are also exciting for vacations. During the winter, you can experience views like the photo below. Isn’t it epic!
